The Circle

I recently had the joy of directing the brand new musical The Circle (by Rachel Walker-Mason and Eloise Hodder) at its first workshop and sharing at UCW (University Centre Weston).

The Circle is about a women’s song writing group, the stories of the women who are part of it, and how their lives intertwine and support one another’s.

Over the course of 2 weeks we took the first draft of this new piece and explored what was there, what was missing, and the what it might look like in a fully fledged production. Characters were fleshed out with our brilliant cast of 10, new scenes and songs added, cuts made, and at the end of the 2 weeks we had a sharing of our workshop for an invited audience who gave overwhelmingly positive feedback for the potential of this beautiful new musical. It will be exciting to see what happens with it next!
